    No, because everyone living in Switzerland is obliged to take out basic health insurance in accordance with the Health Insurance Act. All family members, adults and children alike, must be individually insured. Insurance cover begins as soon as you are born or take up residence in Switzerland.

    Why should I insure my baby even before he/she is born?

    The aim of prenatal insurance is to give your baby the best possible cover from the very first minute of life, with supplementary insurance - simply and without a risk assessment. If your baby is ill at birth, he or she will also benefit from full insurance cover. On the other hand, if the news comes after the baby is born, a risk assessment will have to be carried out before you can take out supplementary insurance. There is then a risk of refusal in the event of an existing illness.

    Do I have to fill in a medical questionnaire?

    With prenatal insurance, there's no need to complete a health declaration. Your baby will have guaranteed access to all the supplementary insurance policies you choose.
